WrestleZone Radio Interview
Firstly I would like to thank Ang immensely for writing up this transcript from the interview with Christy with WrestleZone Radio which took place this past Monday. She took her very own personal time to write up the transcript exclusively for Miss-Hemme.com’s visitors, so for those not interested in listening to the interview you can review what was said. You can read the transcript below:
The show starts off with Christy saying hello as the host welcomes her to WrestleZone Radio LIVE.
Host: Christy I’ve gotta just start off and mention TNA of course and just get your overall thoughts of how TNA has been treating you and uh what you think about your current storylines, what’s been going on?
CH: Well I mean TNA has always been very good to me. I’ve just, I’ve never been unhappy there and right now things just keep moving forward and getting better, and everything there within the company is just growing so much. I’m just happy to be apart of it you know?Host: What do you think personally about being paired of with The Rock and Rave connection? Do you like that? I’m going to try and be as politically correct as I can with this because I’m a huge fan of yours, you know this going way back I promise you that much. The actual storyline and the group itself you know to me, I’m going to use the word cheesy especially with the Guitar Hero stuff. I’m really kind of curious about your thoughts on it and what the process of coming up with this gimmick was. What do you think?
CH: Well then like it happened really quickly, i had no clue when I went to tv. We’d been doing this other stuff, where I’d just been this angry girl for so long. That for me whether it’s cheesy or not, I’m so happy to come out there and be laughing again, you know what I mean? I’m like you know what it’s stupid and I’m messing around with it and you know what I’m having a blast doing it. Whether everybody likes it, hates it, it’s heel, it’s face, I don’t care because I’m having fun.Host: Are you a guitar Hero fanatic though?
CH: Well I mean, I played it here and there and stuff, and I’ll take my hand at it. We’re more doing like the thing with RockBand, the RockBand game. I don’t know if you know about that one.
Host: Yeah I actually did. I noticed, you didn’t come out with the drumsets then or anything.
CH: I know but that’s for future stuff, we have to audition a drummer.
Host: Okay. I see, I see.
CH: It’s ridiculous, which is why it’s going to be fun to do. I don’t know how long it’ll last but at least it’s fun, for me at least. I don’t have to be serious or anything.Host: You brought up being about angry all the time, which you used to be. Kip James was on last week, good friend of the show and good friend for mine. I wanted to find out, because the last time I talked to you and Kip on air it was back when ya’ll were doing ya’lls thing together and you did kind of had that angry gimmick. I was just curious to the story behind that.
CH: It was just like, I don’t think anybody knew what was happening or where they were going with it or what the payoff for it was. For me going through it, it was just very confusing. I was just kind of you know, it was bringing up alot of stuff that really internally made me upset. So I was kind of like, I’m happy that it’s over.
Host: On both sides there was actually some truth to what both of ya’ll were saying.
CH: Yeah I mean I think both of us were kind of living some reality there. All I know is when I go to work I don’t like being upset and I don’t like being angry and I don’t like, I don’t think I should feel that way in the workplace. I’m happy that I don’t have to anymore.(He mentions HEMME)
Host: *Talks about promoting the band* Your myspace of course, and where they can go and listen to your music. I’ve been checking it out in the last week or two
CH: What’d you think of it?
Host: I’m a fan. I was surprised because we heard awhile back about Lita’s band so I went to check that out and it was kind of so so you know? Not the biggest fan but, I was actually impressed I had no idea you could sing.
CH: Well I’m glad it was..everybody’s like ‘Oh my gosh what is this going to be like?’ you know? I’m really excited, we’re working on the album as we speak, in fact we’re going to be recording tonight. It’s getting close to be finished and we have so much coming up, just like shows and stuff. We just did a couple of Easy Rider tour dates, everybody can definitely go check out the myspace. *Gives link to myspace*Host2: Christy first, please don’t be offended he said your music is better than Lita’s.
CH: *laughs* It’s very different than her’s so I hope people know that.
Host2: *Mentions her musical influences* An ecletic mix of musical influences listed for you, from AC/DC to The Doors to Pink Floyd. Are these legit?
CH: Yeah, all growing up that’s what I’ve been listening to. Alot of the classic rock stuff and then you know, we got some of the more industral type stuff thrown in there too with some tracks that you guy’s haven’t heard yet. It’s such a wide range and I wanted to be able to, in my own life the way that I feel you get emotions ranging from your sweet moments to your angry and your heavy and all that stuff. I wanted the album to feel like the soundtrack that you can listen to all day long, and it would change with your mood. You can listen to it working out, it’s for everybody and it’s definitely going to be a piece of art. Every song is like a piece of art and I’m excited to release it and let everybody to hear it.
Host2: From your description it sounds like it’s going be the ‘Downward Spiral’ 2. Which would be fantastic, it’s one of my favorite albums ever.Host: Someone in the chatroom is asking if you write your own music.
CH: I write the lyrics and some of the melodies but the music part itself, is written by my co-writer and his name is SLICK. You can check out him on there too, he’s basically my partner in all this. It’s just the two of us, as far as the writing goes.
Host: When did you start this? How long has it been going on?
CH: For the past couple years, when I left WWE I started waking up in the middle of the night and I would have lyrics and melodies and stuff coming out of my head. I’d write them down or hum them into my home answering machine and I’d wake up and be like ‘That’s so weird, I don’t what’s going on’ you know? I’ve always had a huge voice, just no control over it whatsoever, just a loud girl you know? So after it started becoming this thing where I was just writing all the time, I couldn’t stop writing and I couldn’t stop thinking of these melodies. I started to see the story of what I wanted it to be because the album itself is a concept album, it’s about a girl who..it’s a journey of finding who she is and she goes through all these different things to get there. Really, I decided then and there that this was getting kind of heavy for me, so I started taking singing lessons and dived into it. Since then I’ve been working hard at it and now we’re putting an album together.
(Taking Email Questions)
Host: Marshall wanted to know, if there is any hidden agenda behind you selling Stephanie McMahon’s wrestling boots on Ebay. Perhaps getting back at WWE for letting you go.
CH: Well they’re mine, I’m just selling them because I don’t wear them anymore. I’ve got a new pair of boots I’ve been wearing for almost 2 years now. There’s so much stuff in my closet that I just don’t wear anymore, the other day I had one of the guys that does alot of photoshoots for me just come over and shoot it all because I need to downsize my closet. Whoever gets those lucky little boots will get a phone call from me and I’m glad to get rid of them.Host: Sam wanted to know, if you are ever going to get a title shot.
CH: I’m so incredibly proud of this division, at the commodering backstage between the girls. It’s just amazing, we’re so thankful to be given the oppurtunity to take the ball and we’re running with it. It’s not a rinky dink or a fluffy kind of division, the girls are working hard and going at it. I definitely want a title shot at some point, they have other plans for me at this moment because they have me with the boys and the girls doing their thing. One day I’ll be able to have chance at it too, for sure.
Host2: *Comments on the differences between the WWE’s Women’s Divison and TNA’s Women’s Division*
CH: I just don’t think that (WWE) care as much, I think that the fans…TNA is a very different product than WWE. We are offering something different as far as the girls go, there aren’t really a whole lot of girls running around doing bra and panties matches. It isn’t gonan happen, it’ll never happen with TNA and I’m happy for that.Host: Every guy in america wants to know, since there are rumors going around about you and a certain someone backstage. So they would like to know if Christy Hemme is tied up or not.
CH: You mean like with a boyfriend or with somebody backstage?
Host: Or both, yes.
CH: Wait, I don’t know this information. Who am I supposedly with backstage.
Host: You don’t know this information?!?
CH: No I don’t know! *laughs*
Host: You don’t read the internet?
CH: Not really.
Host: Okay,well I figured..
CH: Please inform of who am I dating backstage?
Host: Apparently, although it’s news to you you are dating Lance Hoyt.
CH: *laughs* No. We’re not even boyfriend and girlfriend on tv anymore so yay.
Host: So you’re not just denying it on camera or anything?
CH: No. We’re not a thing. He has a girlfriend back home too, they laugh about it.Host2: Four years from now, would you rather be headlining Rockin’ Rio or Wrestlemania?
CH: I will never be headlining Wrestlemania, because I will never go back to WWE.
Host2: Would you rather be headlining a TNA pay-per-view or Rockin’ Rio?
CH: My dear are you saying would I rather be doing music or wrestling.
Host2: There you go.
CH: I’m doing both and I’m going to do a fabulous job at it, because I’m a woman of many hats and I can handle it. I love both, I don’t want to stop doing either one. I’m so happy with my life right where it is right now and whether it progesses, I’m happy doing these shows around LA and I’m happy being at TNA when I go there. I’m just at a really good place in my life and I’m not giving up either one.Host: So never back to WWE?
CH: Never ever, they couldn’t offer me enough money.
Host: I didn’t know that. Is this due to a new found bitterness?
CH: No I’ve always felt that way.
Host: Okay.
CH: I’m definitely a person that sticks by my honor and the things that I believe in, and I believe I’m in a good place right now. I believe that TNA is a good company that has a heart , and I wouldn’t go someplace where I’d feel like I was losing that piece of myself. You couldn’t pay me enough no matter what job it is in the world to do something that I didn’t believe in you know?Host: I remember when Christy came on the ‘Voice of Wrestling’ show after her release and I believe you said “It’s like boyfriend had broken up with you”.
CH: It’s almost like, you know when someone breaks up with you and then you realize it was the best thing that could have ever happened because it was so long that you needed to have that happen just so it could open your eyes to know what you would never do again. That’s exactly how I feel because I’m in a place where I don’t feel like ‘Ugh am I really like in this?’ you know what I mean? I’ve always loved the wrestling business that hasn’t changed for me at all but, I’m now in a place where I can go to work and feel good everytime I go.Host: *Talks about a WrestleZone Employee* Any good stories with him?
CH: I accidently stole his polaroid camera once at a houseshow but I gave it back.Host: Throw out some plugs, plug your myspace one more time and your official site.
CH: *Plugs her personal/band myspace’s* Also, keep checking out TNA’s website for new photoshoots.Host: I forgot to say congratulations for winning that Playboy poll.
CH: I think it’s funny. A knockout winning their poll, they were the ones that putting it on, WWE.
Host: It’s the ultimate compliment to you.
CH: It is! I think it’s more of a TNA thing though, I’m really happy. I think the fans just wanted TNA to win that one so I thought it was really cool that they supported us for that.
